Want to Build It Green? Ask Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation is doing just that- making the right kind of change in the quality of life for residents of New Orleans using sustainable building methods and materials. The 13 houses that Pitt’s foundation built in the Lower 9th Ward are now so eco-friendly that monthly electricity bills amount to only about $35.

Pitt hopes to have 150 such homes built by December 2010.

In recognition of his environmental efforts, Pitt just received an award from the  US Green Building Council during a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York.

“I don’t know how we build any other way anywhere else. We can no longer tell ourselves that implementing this technology is too complex a problem because it’s just been proven on this little spot on the map,” Pitt said at the ceremony.

We are confident that his words are true- and hope to see even more celebrities supporting sustainable building!
