Emily Deschanel’s Eco-Conscious Lifestyle: Vintage, Vegan and Green

The environmentally-conscious actress Emily Deschanel talks about her green lifestyle in a featured video on sprig.com. Even with all the temptations of excess that come with stardom, Emily sounds committed to a simpler, greener day-to-day- and we love her for it!

“The number one way that I’m green is I’m vegan. In my house I installed double-paned windows and I hope to do solar panels and have a compost pile. I reupholster furniture if need be so you are reusing things that already exist.”

Emily is also a fan of reinventing old clothes- ‘vintage,’ in Hollywood terms. She says that she found some of her favorite linens and sweaters at a used clothing store in Boston and recently wore a vintage dress on the red carpet. The best part of this recycled look? “Vintage is absolutely unique and no one else will have it.”

Her eco-activism continues on the set of her Fox tv show, Bones, where Emily and the cast encourage the use of biodegradable plates and utensils and aluminum water bottles.
