If you’re a fan of vegetarian food, you probably already know- and love- Moosewood. The restaurant, located in Ithaca, NY, has been a pioneer in creative vegetarian food since 1973.

Moosewood Restaurant is perhaps even better known for its covetable recipe collections, taken from the restaurant’s repertoire, that have been published and re-published over the years. Which brings me to the latest incarnation of Moosewood: the Moosewood Restaurant Farm Fresh Meals Deck.   

 The meals in the Farm Fresh Meals Deck are separated by season, in order to give you a handle on what’s fresh and available at your farmers market.  Pulling out three ‘Autumn’ cards could get you Pumpkin & Mushroom Lasagna, Crisp Autumn Salad and Chocolate Cranberry Crunch. How’s that for dinner party inspiration?

If you’re not sure how you’d handle cooking with recipes from a card, rather than cookbook, let me assure you that it’s wonderfully convenient. You wouldn’t haul a cookbook to the grocery store with you, but you would tuck these cards into your purse or pocket and whip them out when it’s time to fill your basket with ingredients.
