Scott Hamilton Trains for a Return to the Ice
Once an athlete, always an athlete, at least in Scott Hamilton’s case. After a five-year hiatus, the gold medal ice skater is planning a return to the rink this fall, he tells People magazine.
“I’ve been at home being a dad and getting older and slower. I had been feeling physically slow and under the weather, but I feel great after skating. Why not set a goal and get back into it?”
It’s been 25 years since Scott won his gold medal in the Sarajevo Olympics. The 50-year old expects to skate at charity events and skating exhibitions upon his return. Hamilton also beat a testicular cancer diagnosis in 1997 through chemotherapy and surgery.
Back in the rink, Scott has already lost seven pounds through a combination of daily off-ice and on-ice workouts. We’re impressed by his drive and resilience- he truly has a lifelong commitment to fitness!
