Edward Norton To Run NYC Marathon for Masai Conservation Trust

This Sunday’s New York City Marathon will be an athletic and a charitable challenge for actor Ed Norton. Norton is running to raise money for the Masai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which protects the homeland of the Masai, an east African tribe.
Why not start with a less physical fundraiser? “The idea of running the marathon was something a lot more guys could engage with and participate in,” Norton told The Huffington Post.
Norton’s marathon team includes three members of the Masai tribe, musician Alanis Morisette and magician David Blaine. See the list of runners and bios here.
What has marathon training been like for the actor?
“It’s very difficult. It has its plateaus. Getting to 12 miles you’re like, this is ridiculous, I’m never going to get to 26. Then you get to 15 and you think you’re never going to get to 18. Then you get to 20, and you’re kind of in striking distance.”
Norton also got a scare when he heard of one possible side-effect of running long distance: bloody nipples.
“That horrified me so much when I heard about it that when I was running like, three miles, I was Vaseline-ing and band-aiding my chest. I was like, that is not going to happen to me.”
Injuries aside, Norton and his team are set to run 26.2 this Sunday. To donate or to learn more about the cause, visit masaimarathon.com.

Ed Norton is not Christy Turlington’s husband. Edward Burns is her husband of 6+ years.
You’re right! Thanks for catching my mistake. I won’t be mixing up those Edwards again!
