Oprah is Going Vegan!
It was like the shot heard round the world when Oprah Winfrey announced that she was going vegan for 21 days. Her inspiration came from reading “Quantum Wellness” by Kathy Freston. Oprah says, “How can you say you’re trying to spiritually evolve without even a thought about what happens to the animal’s whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony?”
The concept is part of a 21 day cleanse to “makeover your insides”. Oprah’s so excited about this that she’s already taken to her blog to talk about day one. She says,
“Wow, wow, wow! I never imagined meatless meals could be so satisfying. I had been focused on what I had to give up—sugar, gluten, alcohol, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. “What’s left?” I thought. Apparently a lot. I can honestly say every meal was a surprise and a delight, beginning with breakfast—strawberry rhubarb wheat-free crepes”
I’m very excited about this new transition for Oprah and am excited to see how her program progresses along. Here at HealthyHollywood, we’ll be watching closely and bringing you the latest info from Oprah’s journey.
If you’re interested in doing something similar, you can start by taking the 7-day Veg Pledge. It’s sponsored by PETA2 and once you sign up, they provide lots of amazing recipes and tips for making it easy to implement into our already crazy lives! AND, if that wasn’t enough, you can grab a FREE veggie burger from Johnny Rocket’s through this week to kick off your program!
What do you all think? Will you be embarking on a vegan cleanse program? Do you think the whole idea isn’t practical for you? Have you read “Quantum Wellness“? If so, what were your thoughts?

I am very happy that Oprah has all th time and money in the world to try every fad that passes along. But for the rest of the world…oh please! give me a break!
when i went vegan 2 years ago i wasn’t sure what i was going to eat, but it has been waaaaay better than i thought it would be. almost everything i had when i was eating meat i am still eating, but without the animal products (cheesesteaks from govindas in philadephia, bacon cheeseburger from foodswings in brooklyn, nyc, chicken parm from greenlight in trenton, nj. since going vegan i haven’t had one cold or flu, and am much more relaxed than before
That’s pretty amazing, Matt! I’m curious, did you go vegan cold turkey or was it a more progressive thing?
I really limit myself when it comes to meat. I love vegan dishes but it seems like I have a hard time actually preparing them. Anyone know any tricks of the trade?
