Actress Kelly Preston wants healthier food in federally funded school lunches and she’s speaking out to get it. Kelly recently filmed a public service announcement in support of a tougher Childhood Nutrition Act that will air online and on television. In her 60-second spot, Kelly calls for hormone-free milk, pesticide-free fruits and vegetables and whole grains in school lunches.

“I think that a school lunch of junk food and soda should get a failing grade. But lots of children aren’t getting fresh, nutritious meals. It’s vitally important, as obesity has skyrocketed for kids 2-19,” she says.

Kelly and husband John Travolta are parents to a 9-year old daughter, Ella Bleu, having lost their 16-year old son, Jett, this year.

Ellen Page, Martin Sheen and Alyssa Milano also filmed public service announcements that will air in support of a stronger Childhood Nutrition Act. The celebs were moved to take action in support of healthier foods after viewing the new film Food, Inc., which hits theaters today.
