Actress Jenny McCarthy spoke to Michigan Avenue magazine about the nutrition and detox plan that she says cured the Autism diagnosis of her 6-year-old son Evan in only one year. Jenny took matters into her own hands when she found out that the medical community expected Evan to live with his condition.

“I googled autism and found a community called Generation Rescue, which is a parent-run organization of moms who have been teaching other moms about diet, nutrition, supplements, and detox, and they have done an amazing job of healing their kids. So I followed these parents and I’m so glad I did, because within a year of doing diet and nutrition with Evan, he lost his autism diagnosis.”

Her new book, Healing and Preventing Autism, was released this month. It’s Jenny’s third book on her experience with Autism.

Jenny also talked a little about her eating habits and her own stay-fit routine:

“I do bikram yoga about three times a week. And then I also still do portion control with food and I really make sure my fillers are fruits and vegetables…I really had to learn a different way of eating, telling restaurants to bring only half my food.”

She says that she is happy to spend quiet time with her son and boyfriend, actor Jim Carrey. According to Jenny, life at home isn’t the constant stand-up routine you’d expect from two comic personalities.

“The reason we’re really deeply in love is because we have a connection that goes past any goofiness.”

I think with president obama talking about preventitive
medicines that people are really relooking at diets and
nutrition as part of that principle.

We may be reaching that point where Americans start to live
    healthier lives.
