Jennifer Garner Shares Her Sneaky Tricks For Healthy Eating

Jennifer Garner is no different from any other mom when it comes to the struggle over healthy eating. It’s obviously an uphill battle to tempt kids with greens after they’re old enough to know about ice cream. But it seems that Jennifer’s taken the crafty route when it comes to getting her daughter Violet, 3, to eat her veggies: she sneaks them in!

“One healthy snack that I love to make at home is a smoothie with spinach. You use a banana, a bunch of mango and a huge handfuls of spinach so it’s green. But it tastes like mango and banana and the kids are really, really into the color. They also don’t taste the spinach at all,” she told People magazine.

Very clever! (And maybe a trick that I could try on myself?)

Jen’s also not the only celeb mom to think creatively about kids meals. Remember Jessica Seinfeld’s cookbook Deceptively Delicious? She takes spinach a step further than Jen and adds it to brownies! Several of the book’s other unexpected combos (like mac & cheese with cauliflower and butternut squash quesadillas) are actually quite adult-friendly as well.  Checking it out could yield some new meal inspiration…!
