Janet Jackson’s Book To Help Women With Self-Esteem And Diet

For Janet Jackson, a self-described ‘emotional eater,’ the past few months of life looked something like an extreme test of will. Dealing with the sudden death of her brother, the stress of media attention and the workload involved with a new album, tour and upcoming movie was clearly a high hurdle- but Janet has persevered.
While Janet says that she’s still on her journey, she has learned so much about herself that she’s currently writing a book of diet and self-esteem advice for women, called True You. Janet hopes that the book will help young girls at a time when they need it most.
“[The book] was originally about weight loss, but I wanted it to be more about my triggers. I can be an emotional eater. Of late, I have been doing that, yes. It started when I was very little. My brothers were gone on tour a lot, and I would miss them so much. Certain things in my life would become triggers. I wish I’d had a book like this when I was that young. People forget that everyone has things going on,” Janet tells Harper’s Bazaar.
We’re impressed at Janet’s strength and ability to face a subject that has been difficult for her in the past (she lost 60 pounds in 2006). While emotional eating is an issue for many people, it’s often overlooked. We look forward to the publication of True You!
