It’s an all-too-common phenomenon for ladies to pack on pounds while they’re in a secure, long-term relationship. Sometimes it’s the comfort factor, other times it’s eating bigger portion sizes- either way, it’s a story we’ve all heard before.

But Deborah Gibson went against the relationship/weight gain trend and lost 17 pounds after she was motivated by her boyfriend, a medical doctor specializing in preventative medicine, according to People.

“It really gives me a lot more energy to be fit and it’s also empowering. I’ll be 39 soon, and I’m in the best shape of my life.”

Her boyfriend, Rutledge Taylor, customized a strict diet and exercise program that had her steadily losing weight.

“I won’t say it was easy, but it was really effective. He really came up with something that worked for me.”

Deborah’s favorite part of the weight loss could be the attention she gets over her fit and toned shape- attention that often comes from younger women.

“It is really gratifying to have people notice, especially younger women. If I can do this, anyone can.”
