2010 Diet & Fitness Advice from Trainer David Kirsch

One of Healthy Hollywood’s favorite celebrity trainers, David Kirsch, recently talked to MindBodyGreen.com about fitness and diet tips for the new year. We think his advice is priceless (as do his celebrity clients like Anne Hathaway, Heidi Klum and Liv Tyler), so we had to pass it on to our readers! Now’s your chance to pick up advice from this trainer-to-the-stars!
Whether or not you have fitness or weight loss goals for 2010, David’s advice is bound to provide healthy, effective tips that you’ll use everyday.
First off, David recommends ditching the sweets and snacking only when necessary (no mindless eating), but be sure not to starve your body. (His favorite healthy food is eggs and he indulges in Mexican dishes). Here’s what David says:
“Throw out the cookies!!!… Limit snacking to when it is really necessary. Try to pick healthy snacks such as almonds, walnuts, protein shakes, and fruit like apples or pears…In diet, you need to be sure you are eating enough food with proper nutrients. Fasting is counterproductive to one’s overall wellness.”
For swimsuit season, take note of David’s recipe for great abs:
“Reduce the amount of dairy, saturated fat, sugars and processed carbs. Increase your cardio to no less than 45 minutes 4 times a week.”
If (like us) you were curious about how David’s celebrity clients differ from us everyday men and women, here’s the answer:
“My celebrity clients are no different than my other clients. Their biggest issue is time. They have a specific time they need to achieve their goals by.”
David’s final words of advice to ensure you meet your expectations this year:
“The biggest key is setting realistic goals, mapping out a good course of action, and accepting that it may not always be perfect…but when you fall off course, you have to get right back on!”
