Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products are biodegradable, made with essential oils and never tested on animals. And you’ll love their built-in aromatherapy, which somehow makes cleaning feel less like a chore! Wouldn’t you prefer that your home carry the scent of lemon verbena, lavender or geranium, instead of ammonia or bleach?
And here’s the exciting part- a giveaway! One Healthy Hollywood reader will receive a Snap Pea Spring Cleaning Kit from Mrs. Meyer’s, with an 8 oz. All-Purpose Cleaner, Countertop Spray, Liquid Dish Soap and Window Spray. To enter in the giveaway, tell us how you plan to make your cleaning routine more eco-friendly in the comment section of this post. The best answer posted by Saturday, April 25 wins the Spring Cleaning Set from Mrs. Meyer’s!
To recognize Earth Day, shipping will also be free on mrsmeyers.com this Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21 and 22!
As a bonus, here are a few tips on how to recycle, reuse and reduce waste- from Mrs. Meyer herself!
Try to reuse water whenever possible. When changing the water in the fish tank, put the old water in a pan and use it on my plants-it’s great for fertilizing. And save the water from washing tights and use it on plants too; same goes for the water left over from boiling potatoes, pasta, or eggs. If that bottle of club soda went flat, you can use that, too-the minerals make plants very happy.
Gadgets get updated so quickly these days that it’s easy to all of a sudden be left with an obsolete gizmo. Many of these devices have parts that can be reused, which is a good thing since tossing these items in the trash wreaks havoc on the environment. Your local electronics shop may have a recycling box where you can drop your castoffs.
Stop throwing out those little pieces of soap! It’s valuable stuff! Take the soap chips from all the sinks and showers in your house and put them in a big plastic jug under the kitchen sink with a little water so they don’t dry out. When the jug gets full, set it in a pan on the stove with a little water and heat it very, very slowly, stirring, until all the soap melts. You can use that melted-down soap in the washing machine to tackle greasy jeans!

i’ve been trying to switch over to earth friendly cleaning products lately and would love this set to help in my efforts to live more green. I’ve heard nothing but great things about these products!
Check out Ashleys last blog post – 10k – check!
If I conserve water and let the laundry bag fill up longer, I risk angering my wife, but does that count?
I’m going to use eco friendly cleaning products and send some to my daughter to get her started.
Check out lee (getting fit)s last blog post – Hollyweird’s double standard – getting worse or better?
I’m only using non-toxic cleaners for my Spring Cleaning this year. Since I had a baby, I’m so careful about what comes into my house. Cleaning products are just an extension of that. I’ve found that vinegar and baking soda is great for just about anything.
ashley – they really are terrific! Congrats on your efforts to live more green!
drew – I am sooo not getting into this one!
lee (getting fit) – how thoughtful of you!!!
adrian – I’m a big vinegar and baking soda fan too!!
Great tips!!! Keep them coming!! we still have a couple of days left to get in your comments!!!!
I am now using cloth bags for shopping and I use newspapers to clean my windows instead of paper towels, I give things that I am not going to use anymore on freecycle. My resolution this year was to live a more green lifestyle and honestly I think my home smells so fresh and clean.
